McBride Pathways for Veterans Receives VA Suicide Prevention Grant to Serve Southwest Ohio Veterans

October 1, 2026  ·  McBride Pathways for Veterans  ·  Hamilton, Butler & Warren Counties, Ohio

SSG Fox SPGP Award

McBride Pathways for Veterans is working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to prevent Veteran suicide in the Greater Cincinnati area — serving Hamilton, Butler, and Warren Counties in Southwest Ohio.

Through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP), McBride Pathways for Veterans was awarded $500,465 from VA to support its mission of preventing Veteran suicide and connecting at-risk Veterans to the care, resources, and community they deserve. The SSG Fox SPGP provides funding to community-based organizations who use non-clinical, peer-led, and non-traditional approaches to engage and serve eligible Veterans — especially those not yet connected with VA in under-resourced areas with high-risk populations.

"By prioritizing suicide prevention, we can create a support network that reaches those who are struggling, offering them hope, compassion, and a lifeline when they need it most. Together, we can create a community that gives every Veteran a chance to overcome challenges and discover they are not alone on their journey toward healing and recovery."

— Aunye McBride, Founder & Executive Director, McBride Pathways for Veterans

What This Grant Means for Southwest Ohio Veterans

With the SSG Fox SPGP award, McBride Pathways for Veterans will provide the following services to Veterans in Hamilton, Butler, and Warren Counties:

Community outreach — meeting Veterans where they are, at VFW and American Legion posts, shelters, courts, churches, and community spaces across the tri-county area. Baseline screening and assessment — connecting Veterans to mental health tools including suicide risk screening. Education and suicide prevention training — equipping both Veterans and community partners with life-saving knowledge. Case management — individualized service plans and dedicated follow-through for every enrolled Veteran. Peer support — Veteran-to-Veteran connection that builds trust and reduces isolation. VA benefits assistance — guiding Veterans through health care enrollment, disability claims, and the benefits they've earned. Public benefits coordination — connecting Veterans to housing, financial, and community resources. Housing assistance — supporting Veterans experiencing or at risk of housing displacement. And emergency clinical services and legal services coordination when needed.

All services are free and confidential for eligible Veterans in Butler, Hamilton, and Warren Counties.

About McBride Pathways for Veterans

McBride Pathways for Veterans is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by a United States Veteran who knows firsthand what it means to navigate life after service — and what it looks like when a fellow Veteran is struggling in silence. Based in Mason, Ohio, McBride Pathways serves Veterans across the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area through proactive outreach, wraparound case management, mental health screening, peer support, and coordinated referrals. We don't wait for Veterans to come to us. We go where they are.

Our mission: to ensure that no Veteran in Southwest Ohio is left behind — disconnected from care, invisible to the system, or without someone in their corner.

A Life Honored
